  • Why are SSU services not illegal?

First of all, I would like to say sorry if this is the wrong category for this thread. Now that is out of the way, let's talk about gambling in general.

So people gamble because of the enjoyment of risking world locks for hopefully (mostly failing though) getting back something greater. This obvious risk is what excites gamblers most of the time, and the idea of "maybe this is the moment" is what's keeping them from betting, slowly losing more every time.

This feeling we talked about is present both in SSU services and casinos in growtopia, that raises the question "Why is it not illegal"

People can just sell the ghost jars in its retail price together with the SSU machine, it really requires no special blocks whatsoever. Meaning, anyone can do it.

But why do the owners of these worlds persist on doing that service for other people? Its not hard. Its not complicated. You don't need an expensive setup.

I think that these worlds are targeting the demographic of casino players. They are using the same stimuli of risking world locks for an item one would want. The same feeling one is excited of when playing in an illegal casino

Now, people may say that SSUs are just intended mechanics. But paying currency for an unpredictable reward is still gambling just in a different form and look.

Just sell us the jars and SSU on a price that would still benefit these legal gambling worlds.

I think that they are not quite the same though. Using SSU services will guarantee a prize from the SSU, regardless of how much the prize is worth, so basically you "win" all the time. However, for casinos, there is no guarantee that you will actually win a prize. You either get something or nothing.

A trade is defined by getting what you want, by giving the seller what they want.

The player wanted a DCS, he lost by getting some random stuff that is definitely not what he wants.

This is not a purchase of service, not a trade.

Trades should not have uncertainty drilled into them

Getting certain % from SSU is hard though and also depends on your luck. It may explode on 100% and you need 200%+(not sure) for a chance of DCS and other rare rewards. Nonetheless, its like you are paying for its the service for reaching the certain %. If you do it yourself, there is chance it will explode before the desired % = you might spend more wls

Speaking from what little experience I have, I can say that it is not easy at all. it can blow up with increasing chances after 100% and I myself have lost wls from doing so. From a non biased perspective I will say that SSUs are in a bit of a grey area in that similar to GBC you are buying the chance to get something and you know the risks of not getting the big prize.

however there is the factor that it is handled by players. I would argue that you could also sell premade SSUs in individual dirt worlds but the ghostking's command adds another layer of difficulty onto that.

it's in a grey area and to be honest most people scam themselves? with the probability of the SSU and whatnot. they signed up for it.

again idk it really is in a grey area

The players are simply buying a 220% SSU instead of making one by themselves. There's nothing illegal in that. If someone wants Dreamcatcher Staff and doesn't directly just buy it, but tries his luck to save some some WLs and ends up wasting more than a Dreamcatcher Staff costs - that person can only blame themself.

Buying and exploding SSUs in hopes of getting profit is no different than buying and breaking GBCs. Doesn't matter if you make them yourself or buy them from players. You're in any way only paying for the product and what you will do with the product is your own decision. No one forces you to break them and possibly lose everything.

Replace every SSU related term to casino terms. You basically comply the same message.
