Bring back [IMG]!

I've recently come across an issue where we cannot attach images from external sources into posts, which really is inconvenient, considering you'll need to download the image and reupload it (which is a waste of time).
Looking up on Google to see why they're disabled, I saw they've been disabled because apparently some dude managed to log IPs using external images (?)
Now here's the million dollars question: is the trade off of having your IP logged, just to be able to have the convenience of using external images worth it?

In my opinion, yes! It is.
Searching again on Google, we realise that pretty much all of the IP addresses across the internet are not "stable", which means that you are given a new one each time you restart your router (or modem), which further backs my point that logging IPs is not really a huge deal and it won't seriously affect anybody anyway.

What about you, what do you think?

You can have your IP stolen even the way it is now. It's not something easily solved by not being able to post IMG -- so bring it back.

the trade-off is letting the ip logger know your approximate location (not exact address)
they could bring your router offline (spamming it with requests)

for some people they are not able to get a new ip because theirs is static. So until (hacker guy) decides to stop, you wont be getting internet connection.

They could potentially find out more about you than just your approximate location, connect it to other browsing data. But that's not what a 'typical' hacker would be able to do as it's something NSA/GOV would do.

I haven't had this issue. I was using my image host just yesterday... I can use images as a link or from my pc.

Right. Regarding the signature though, we're now limited to a tiny sigpic which does not let everyone unleash their creativity.

Not via [IMG]. If you scroll down to "Posting Permissions", it says [IMG] code is turned off.

Sure, you can still attach a PNG via upload/link, but I found that like 9 times out of 10 it's a JPG, so then you have to go through the effort of converting it to be able to upload it, and even then it doesn't always work.

It's just overall a huge hassle, and they should really fix attachments first before disabling [IMG], or just bring [IMG] back because honestly what harm can an IP do? It's not like IP's are completely private to begin with anyways.

Not sure what you're referring to in the first place.
I just want the ease of being able to use images more easily.
I'm totally not against enabling the use of .JPGs if re-enabling [IMG] is not an option at the moment. Most images are JPEGs and it's a pain in the ass to convert them to PNGs to post them here.
