Background Weather Machine Glitch:Dark Cave Background

When I put this item as the background, it just functions like normal cave bg. its supposed to make everything go dark.

Not a bug Nor glitch. Background weather is meant to display background items, not its effects. That would be too OP.

That's because it's not a special effect but the actual (animated) sprite itself. It's why you'll see it actually changing colour in your inventory/etc, but you won't see a black box instead of a dark cave background in your inventory.

Think of it this way: The game scans the world for dark cave backgrounds, and when it sees one it overlays that entire tile with darkness. It does not detect those in the weather machine, because they don't actually exist placed in the world but are part of the weather instead. The same goes for other "functional" background tiles such as music notes.

Nope. That would be too OP. Thus making buying these wallpapers with special effects useless. If you want a dark cave background covered world, buy the supplies yourself and quit relying on the devs to add this feature so you can save your wls.
