At this point its common knowledge growtopia is a dying game. Its bleeding players daily, and the multitude of spammers, scammers and overall toxic players are leading to some people just leaving. And one day, growtopia will reach its final days before it shuts down. Updates will slow down, and Ubisoft will just pull the plug. Then there will be 2 players. Full of expensive stuff turned cheap over time, then, one leaves. So the last player types in chat: "noob show wls" and disconnects. And so growtopia dies.
But how can we prevent, or at least delay this game's death? Well, let's look back to 2013-2015 (i started playing around 2015) the game was targeted towards players who want to socialize and make friends, make art, etc. While nowadays its more about wealth. Don't get me wrong, growtopia is one of the few games to have a player built economy and its amazing how it hasnt crashed. But lets be real people, we should give socializing a chance.
Next are the updates. The recent ones beings received with.. well... mixed opinions. But why is that? Well, thing is, the updates feel like a repeat of the past years , and they dont seem so genuine anymore. So to fix this, please for the love of god COMMUNICATE. growtopia forums take like, 5% of the player base, the mods are always hidden.. like, remember when the mods played with us? Instead of you know, just logging in to nuke some worlds every once in a while? When Seth and Hamumu used to deliver the WOTD awards personally? Those we're amazing! I think a link between players and creators is necessary to estabilish a happy playerbase.
Now lets talk players. In peak time we have 35,00 ~
40,000 players and in other times we have ~16,000. Dear lord, that is unforgivable! Want me to draw a comparison? Team Fortress 2, a 12 YEAR OLD GAME (released in 2007) has more players than growtopia! A game with more updates and a stable(er) economy! You know why? Because the players are too dang concentrated. Heres a pyramid:
Very Rich/ Over 100 DLs (1%)
The Rich/Over 10 DLs (9%)
The Medium Class/Over 10 WLs (40%)
The Lower Class/ Over 1 WL (30%)
The Very Poor/ Less than 1 wl (10%)
Alts, Spammers, New Players (10%)
Have you noticed? Growtopia makes updates designed for the rich, the people who burn WLs just to joke around in the SBs, saying stuff like "whats 2+2??", even though they're a minority. (Amazingly rare stuff, adding items that are very expensive/hard to make) I was a Lower Class growtopian from 2015-2018 (i focused more on socializing and making friends) and this always made me angry, so by focusing on the LowerClass majority you'll please the playerbase as a whole, because in growtopia, trickle down economics just dont work if the top controls the economy.
The Scammer Problem
Growtopia has a lot of scams. A lot. We should focus on finding them and preventing them would please the community as a whole. Sorry for the wall of text, and please carry on with your day.
