I don't want this to be the main focus of this comment so I'll just straight up ask you: do you honestly think deep-inside that this is fair?

Do not get me wrong, I am entirely convinced that both parties (you and the exploiters) are in wrong: the developer team for not properly testing the bugs that could arise from a "new" kind of item and the playerbase for taking advantage of it. However, I do believe that you guys should reconsider your decision to permanently remove these accounts from the game.

First of all, I find it silly, not to say ridiculous, that 600 people got suspended for something that is partly YOUR fault and you're taking absolutely no responsibility for it. I have read all your posts on the matter and not once you stated that such horrendous things happened because of you improperly testing the item. Again, my sincere apologies for what you might consider arrogance from my part, but it seems like you're trying to put the whole blame on the exploiters, which is an extremely wrong move. If I recall correctly, you banned the casinos for two main reasons: scams (obviously), and so that the children playerbase wouldn't potentially develop gambling addictions which is an honorable cause. Back to our subject, this same childish playerbase has exploited a bug and you are stating that they should have anticipated the consequences that would arise from their actions, despite some of them being children that do not have not yet developed very rational thinking skills. Furthermore, a lot of people simply assumed that the usual rollback would happen and chose to duplicate the Diamond Horn a few hundred times and potentially even recycled them for gems (I assume they give 10'000 gems?). A simple misjudgment of a critical situation lead a lot of people to their fall and you can't really blame them for it. In the past, when people were sure that a rollback would happen because of a game-breaking bug, a lot of them went crazy because they expected a rollback that eventually did happen.

Secondly, you have stated in one of your posts that the suspension was the only way to get these items out of the economy. Now, I hope we're both on the same page and realize that despite you banning these accounts, a ton of diamond horns still managed to circulate in the market and make the price of the item plunder as expected. Another question: what does it change if these players even get to keep the horns? While it might be harmful to the Diamond Horn market, it is slightly hypocritical, considering how you, forgive the expression, "dumpstered" the price of an item (you know what I'm talking about) less than a week ago, I believe. I strongly believe that these items should be removed from the economy, or maybe should have been in the first place, but the sadistic method you employed to remove them isn't conform to any kind of ethics. What you did was essentially erase a few hundred thousand hours of player work and commitment to your game for the sake of "saving the price" of an item that is already low and will probably stay low for a very long period of time.

Thirdly, you have stated right here that you did not "remove the players" from the game, but this is wrong (at least to me) and there's a very simple explanation to it: a person in an MMO or in any kind of game is defined by his/her commitment to the game and to its community. Many of the people you had their accounts banned were golden players who have supported this game since the beginning. A lot of them had over three thousands of hours on this game and by recklessly suspending their accounts, you made all that work go to waste because of one single mistake that you were partly responsible for. If you were playing a game for a long time and got banned because of a mistake, a slight misjudgment of the situation, would you simply accept the fact that your whole years of commitment have been gone to waste?

I could definitely argue more on this subject, but for now I judge that what I said is enough. I am not one of those banned, but the lack of empathy from the developer team has simply compelled me to write this down.

Please reconsider your decision for fairness's sake.
    Couldn't say it better.

60 day ban and deletion of the items would be fair, duping a couple items is one of the most stupid reasons to get a permanent suspension, especially if you have never been punished before.

I would also like to add that a crystal exploit occurred in 2014, many more crystal items were put out into the community but the developers some how deleted most of the items and very few bans were handed out to the truly 'most serious offenders'. I like how they said in the new, the 'most serious offenders' got banned, they didn't just get banned for 60 days, no matter how many you made, you got a permanent ban which is a very dumb reason to ban someone.

It is none of my business to find a way to solve this problem. I am no developer and I am not aware of the technical limitations of their system, so I would rather keep my mouth shut and let them think of a fair way to solve this conflict. After all, it's their job, isn't it?

So you plan to keep your mouth shut yet you come here to help your friend pigfarmer get his account back by criticizing the devs' decision to ban dupers?

Do you expect him to come with a perfect solution to a game he doesn't actually own?

/fp, why did you assume he is just helping me get my account back? You have some problem with assuming things.

He wrote 4 lengthy paragraphs of why the devs are wrong and not fair. I was just wondering if he thought of a solution himself.

Of course I totally understand why someone would not want to play again if they had lost everything. Don't get me wrong, I know it's a big pain. But the option is there to return if you wish.
What if I bought2d horn and got suspended for no reason?

As he said, he doesn't own the game and a solution isn't his problem. He still has full right to criticize mistakes, just like how you're criticising him right now.

Let me get things clear: my goal is absolutely not to help an individual recover his or her account. My goal is to convince Mike that the methods used are unfair.

You know, texts have a certain purpose. Mine purpose wasn't to suggest a solution, but to convince.
