Default V3.0 Research Improvement (Long Thread)

    Improving Growtopia V3.0
One Big Healthy Community On The Move

    Topic: Casinos/Illegal Gambling

    Body:
According to my 1 year research, the roots of Spamming, Hacking, Illegal Gambling will be mentioned in some parts of my following statements.

Growtopia staffs are unaware about the business going on outside Growtopia. Base from my surveillance players are hoarding World Locks, Diamonds Lock, Blue Gem Locks to sell it outside the game.

What causes them to hoard these Locks?
They tend to sell it for real money, the result will be urging players to hoard it from casino business and the other topic now will join in the story.

Casino business consists players, watchers, and the host. If you are the player you can advertise the game simply outside, since no one is moderating and UbiTeam doesn't have full control with that. Watchers, tends to get some idea how they will hoard it. Lastly, the host who mostly hoard it easily, they advertise and profit easily.

Hoarding locks from gamblers needs players, so the spambots will join us to the story, and hacking for those who urges to earn more locks.

    Ubisoft Team Action:

What the UbiTeam is doing right now is a short term progress to get rid of casinos, spammers, hackers. What we need is the long term progress.

    Recommendation:
To wipe out casinos, spammers, hackers.
UbiTeam should focus hunting or scare away the hoarders who sell locks outside the game. It's all connected, spambots are spamming the name of casinos, hackers using it to win the gambling, gamblers to hoard and sell it for money. Once they start this banning program, hoarders will start to get scared and casinos will slowly die.

    Another discovery that I found,
They sell locks with their real account, and play casino or host casino with dummy accounts. They transfer the locks to the main account.

Note: If they want to start hunting these players down, they should check social medias with anonymous account to catch the preys.

I totally agree with everything stated above.
I would like to add that Ubisoft should begin some mini-programs where it "hires" experienced players to do specific tasks like finding those, and giving them the results.

Yes there was a Banning program for short term progress/solution, like I stated on the thread.

But nothing changes, since they are only eliminating one of the hundreds.

One player = 100 Spam bots
One Player controls the hundred bots.

It's kinda hard but we know nothing is impossible to do. Hoping for the best for the Growtopia

    1 Year of Observations? Jaysus.

    But hey, I agree.

Some points to ponder is that they could check the logs in which the casino owners and admins that do indeed move locks to their main accounts and check at what times they go do the transaction. They could also go check which player/s they are connected/loosely tied too. It's just like how a banking security system works(something along those lines), they check which transactions are fishy and they try to track down and figure out what is happening.

I agree to what you have said. I think the best way to hunt this players outside the game is we Forumers should start hunting and reporting them directly to mods voluntarily.

Don't point out the platform on public, most of the casino owners check forums for updates to secure and hide their identities and worlds.

It might be a nono if they start doing member confirmation on these platforms, it would be hard to join inside these groups.

One of my friends used to be an advocate for removing casinos & IRL selling - there are forums and places where players can buy and sell items (primarily any variation of world lock) in Growtopia for IRL money, with ease. There is (or was) a massive market for these acts in South Korea, where they'd get away with it due to no one knowing what they're talking about. They would easily organise things in-game, gamble all day long and sell the items online or actually meet up IRL (since South Korea has a pretty high population density so finding others for your needs can be quite local).

My friend was South Korean and knew many who conducted illegal activities daily, yet nothing was ever done. Those at support desk seemed to be not interested - though, this was before Ubisoft came along. He gave up sending proof and whatnot and moved on.

I assume these shenanigans still flourish.

Furthermore, this little information seems insufficient for 1 year worth of work. For me at least, I already knew all this from common sense and few notations from others.

I have seen some online shopping ads from Facebook and Instagram showcasing Diamond Locks for sale.

A few years ago, I was invited to a Facebook group consisting of Growtopia players, and at first the community was posting nothing wrong but then I came back after some...years and now I see alot of players selling their wls for irl money.

Simply search "wls for sale" in Google and you can see a number of websites that show the marketplace for locks

Don't forger ebay too, on eBay some players are selling them too.. Make some sort of sting operation on them. Buy a item, then ban the player, and do a withdrawal of money.

For illegal buyers and sellers on facebook, the only solution we could do is to hire spies that would act as sellers/buyers.
