even though I was the one who voluntarily put myself through these at first a few years ago

At least y'all actually speak Indonesian. Here in Ireland, we're forced to learn Irish, which is basically a dead language that isn't spoken unironically outside of a few certain areas. The only place you really see the Irish language here is on signs and documents, but those always have the English translation as well.

They're trying to preserve the culture so it wont go extinct.
