    Default My PC broke

This is the second time it has happened within 4 months.

First time: Minding own business, then glitchy things pop up. Screen looks like a rainbow, then pc shuts off forever. I couldn’t have gotten a virus. Returned the pc and got back my money, then bought the same one again.

Second time (now): Keep getting mini-freezes that last a few seconds each. Big freeze happens, pc shuts down. Won’t even turn on.

I’m almost certain nothing can help me, just ranting here...

First of all, are you sure it's your computer and not your monitor?
Either way, I managed to find this discussion, see if it matches your case or if any of the responses help. Otherwise, you might have some luck by Googling "rainbow screen of death" or something.

Not sure what to make of the second case though, there's a number of things that could cause freezes and shutdowns. What are your PC specs? Is the cooling in your PC adequate? It could be possible that it's overheating. You could also try looking in the Task Manager to see if anything in particular is eating up a lot of resources, then troubleshoot from there if anything seems out of the ordinary.

If all else fails, I'd recommend just getting a different PC or even building your own, it could just be that whatever prebuilt computer you're buying is just bad.

Have you tried using a system recovery disk? (SystemRescueCD or even something like Linux Mint)

Have you tried updating your GPU drivers? Your pc might be overheating too. Download HWMonitor and check your temps.

It wasn’t a literal rainbow screen of death, it just looked like it. If I find a picture i’ll upload it. My computer doesn’t seem to be overheating, it stays at 50C most of the time, which is normal. I’ve looked at task manager and nothing seems to happen, except when I freeze. My memory goes to zero, which should be expected. I think the brand of pc I got is bad, despite the reviews. Also i’m kinda dumb so I probably won’t be building my own pc soon lol.

Updated them 9 days before the crash, and problems happened 2 days leading up to it. Pc wasn’t overheating.

Could you give me the manufacturer and model model of the pc?
Also the rainbowish color bug really sounds like a GPU problem.

By memory going to zero, do you mean that the RAM usage is 100%? Could you specify?

Okay, couldn't really find anything by doing some googling.

When the RAM usage goes high, what program is causing it? Open task manager and click the RAM porition to sort the programs by RAM usage. You have 16Gb so it shouldn't really run out that easily.

Other than that, you could check if the RAM sticks are physically placed correctly because they could have been loosened during delivery etc. Be careful though, as some manufacturers negate your warranty if you open the case. Do some research beforehand if you decide to open it.

That's the same specs as I have! Works good for me. (I built my PC at home)
