Default Guide to Fishing Role/Fishing Statistics

Continuation from Chef Role/Cooking guide I made a few months ago.

Before you start/What you should know:

Fishing Role is 1 of the 4 current supplier roles in game. Supplier roles are cheaper than crafter roles.

Spoiler below is a table of XP earned and required per level.

    Cost of supplier role quest

    Is Fishing Role hard?

    Types of Role Quests

    1. Deliver 50/100/200 of ____(Fishing items/baits)
    2. Catch 200lbs of fish
    3. Catch 150lbs of ___(type of fish)

    Role Drops

Role Level Role Drop How to get/Bait to use
3 Aquamarine Stone Shiny Flashy Thing
4 Primordial Ooze Fishing in Uranium Water(Best to use Uranium Lure)
    5 Sea Sponge Salmon Eggs
    6 Oil Slick Fishing Fly
    7 Naval Mine Fishing Fly
    9 Mint Shrimp Lure
    10 Quantum Starfish Mega-Pellet Bait

    Fishing Statistics

I spent a lot of time wondering which bait is best to catch which fish and couldn't actually find a guide for it. Ended up wasting a lot of time fishing because I wasn't using the best bait. Hence, I decided to just collect my own data under these conditions:

    1. Data was collected from May-August 2019, mostly from the past week. The devs did not announce that they changed any drop rates for fishing during this period so I guess it's safe to say that it's all under the same conditions.

    2. I did not include any daily bonus drops.

    3. I used the Licorice Rod only(twice as fast as a regular rod)

    4. I used 1000 of each bait

Disclaimer: At the time I'm posting this, I have yet to collect all data for all baits(Uranium and Mega-pellet) and Stonefish. A lot of fishes are exclusive to these 2 baits and I don't really see a point in collecting data for them(other than knowing the fish drop rates, but then again I don't think anyone uses these 2 for guild events). For Stonefish, I would have to fish for hours again and I've been working on this for months. I'm publishing this guide now since I saw a few asking for which bait gives the highest fish drop rates. I am planning to complete the data though, but it won't be very soon since I don't have the time right now.

Baits with the highest fish drop rates:
    1. Salmon Eggs(43.8%)
    2. Wiggly Worm(40.2%)
    3. Shiny Flashy Thing(38.2%)
    4. Shrimp Lure(34.7%)
    5. Fishing Fly(31.8%)

    Baits to get high lbs:
    1. Shrimp Lure
    2. Fishing Fly
    3. Salmon Eggs
    4. Shiny Flashy Thing
    5. Wiggly Worm

    Types of fishing rods
    E-Z Rod Basic fishing rod
Cursed Fishing Rod Chance to get bigger fish, respawning, getting exploded fish, send to Growganoth
Exquisite Rod Chance to get bigger fish
Licorice Rod(Recommended) Twice as fast as a regular rod
Goldenrod 25% bigger fish than normal
Magical Rainbow Fishing Rod Gets an item/Gets bait back/Gets kicked/Gets 2 items

What bait to use for certain fishes

Type of fish Bait(s) you can use(Best to worst)
Bass Fishing Fly, Salmon Eggs, Shiny Flashy Thing, Wiggly Worm
    Catfish Salmon Egg/Fishing Fly(Tie)
    Dogfish Salmon Eggs, Fishing Fly
Gar Shrimp Lure, Fishing Fly, Salmon Eggs
Goldfish Salmon Eggs, Shiny Flashy Thing, Wiggly Worm
    Mahi-Mahi Shrimp Lure, Wiggly Worm
Sunfish Shrimp Lure, Fishing Fly, Shiny Flashy Thing
    Sand Shark Shrimp Lure
    Whale Shrimp Lure
Stonefish Fishing Fly, Salmon Eggs(With dark cave background) *Not tested*
Maidmare Fish Uranium Lure(Use Nuclear Detonator on a Uranium Block with a water bucket)
Weird Manta Ray Uranium Lure(Use Nuclear Detonator on a Uranium Block with a water bucket)
Double-Headed Angel Devil Fish Uranium Lure(Use Nuclear Detonator on a Uranium Block with a water bucket)
Alpha Great White Shark Mega-Pellet Bait(Use Hand Drill on a Ice Crust Block with a water bucket)
Absolutely Real Elephant Fish Mega-Pellet Bait(Use Hand Drill on a Ice Crust Block with a water bucket)
Cuttlefish Mega-Pellet Bait(Use Hand Drill on a Ice Crust Block with a water bucket)

Explanation for ranking of baits/Graphs(for anyone interested)

    Bass

    Catfish

    Dogfish

    Gar

    Goldfish

    Mahi-Mahi

    Sunfish

    Raw Data

Ah yea, I forgot to rank the baits according to highest lb of fish. I would use shrimp lure. If it's too expensive, use fishing fly or salmon eggs.

Thumbs up for this guide. The details are indeed good for someone who reads through most of the data statistics. Thank you for making such an effort to do the data collecting and writing out such a detailed guide. It will definitely be helpful for those who read this...

Alright, will add a fishing rod section soon. Unfortunately, fishing is really all about luck. I chose shrimp lure as the better bait as it gave way more lbs(max 100+ as compared to max 10lbs for worms) than wiggly worms, but the frequency of it is way lower too. Personally, I would rather get lesser frequency of fishes with higher lbs than high frequency of fishes with lower lbs. If you prefer the later, you can try wiggle worms but I predict it will take a longer time than shrimp. If I were you, I would choose to continue using shrimp lure.

Since the data I collected are all based on using the Licorice Rod, I would recommend using the same to get similar results.

The ranking of the baits are just my own judgement from the data I collected, you don't have to follow every recommendation, adjust accordingly to your preference!

There's really no best rod. All depends on what you want. I prefer to finish my quest as possible so I use the licorice rod. If you want bigger fishes but at slower speed as compared to the licorice rod, go for the goldenrod/exquisite anomarod.

I really don't think I'm in the place to rank the fishing rods cause everyone preferences is different, which is why I just added the rods and their functions.

I find all fishing drops average out at around 5-6/200 baits

Role drops are under the raw data. Around 7 aquamarine stones per 200 baits, the drops are very volatile.
