    Default [Discussion] Is Growtopia dying?

Lets take a few instances from the past few weeks for example.

    -Youtuber suspensions and Influencer suspensions
Will Growtopia loose popularity because of this? As a result of people loosing interest in the game?

    -The slow support system.
I speak from first hand experience. Personally, I've waited 2 weeks with no reply.

    -New Moderators and Game Guardians.
    (This point is generalised)
Is there a possibility that they sometimes make the wrong decisions, which in result contribute to killing the game?
Face it, mods ban and suspend people based on their own decisions and choices. One moderator may give a player warning, another a 30 day ban. There are no uniform bans if it is a personal case, the moderator is permitted to take into view his own opinion. For scams and drop games and casinos etc. it is uniform but for more sophisticated things like personal things the moderator only takes account their side of the story.

    -Ubisoft acquiring Growtopia

I dont know if its just me. However much I try to give Ubisoft a chance they just fail my low expectations.
PAW for example. I don't need to explain it, you already know that it was downright crap, with a few exceptions comparatively to the other years.

Seth and Hamumu were a 2 man team and they did all that crap together efficiently and effectively for 4 years.
A transnational corporation fails to deliver a game which has no bugs and *reliable* servers. I'm not asking for a smooth server, just a reliable one.
Every update comes with at least one or two unbalanced broken things.

I'm not even taking into account Rayman's fists and Magplants.

And the 2 rollbacks that occurred just a few months ago.

    -The community
Yea. I don't have to explain this. You know what I'm talking about.

In conclusion, Growtopia is still alive out of the following reasons:

-Players with an addiction to the game
-Players who play to solely to be with their friends and socialise with them
    and
-Players who pass time (usually new players, who quit after 2-3 weeks of being bombarded with toxicity and little help from the community)

That was my opinion. What do you think?
Before you reply, remember no singling out and stuff. Otherwise they'll lock the goddamn thread.

Also I placed a poll, I was curious to see how many of you are blinded from the truth.
I kept the poll as unbiased as possible.

    Default My thoughts...

Unfortunately this is quite true, Growtopia is dying, A clear reason of this is because everybody hates ubisoft, personally I don't mind them but ever since new mods came people have to discriminate. You're absolutely correct a lot of stuff that has happened is decreasing the amount of Growtopias players, But can we actually realise mods are real people? I see broadcasts that are quite disgusting against mods, We never questioned Seth and Hamumu about this game, And okey, Ubisoft isn't like Seth and Hamumu because their dedication was phenomenal but Ubisoft are the new owners, why should we treat them and their moderators any different to how we treated Seth/hamumu. You talk about toxicity towards players, what about moderators? are they not players? I've seen posts about people not wanting moderators that are like robots who always follow the rules, and posts like yours that say you want them to follow the rules step by step, what are they supposed to do? People don't like it either way, BTW If your on about the situation where a bunch of people made a fake casino, Do you think that would be in the rule book?

Also I can't talk to pros because I'm a noob... I can't talk to noobs because They ask for donations. What am I supposed to do? The reason people stop playing is because everything relies on world locks. I'm clearly not saying get rid of them, but I'm just stating that imagine people not asking for you to give them wls. Imagine being able to feel equal. Also The homophobia and racism is not helping at all, these situations are hidden but if you play Growtopia be prepared for racial slurs, I mean the "noob" skin is usually brown. Doesn't that hint something for you? I'm talking about these situations because only we can help them. Not the owners/moderators WE are the community, and WE need to change!

    Again, Just my thoughts
Idm if you hate on them, but it's how I feel

This happened in the Sethmumu era aswell. They faced the same level of scrutiny as Ubisoft do.
When mods got their power they knew perfectly well what they signed up for. Aswell as having haters, they have a $hit ton of mindless fans aswell that would pretty much do anything to get them alone to talk to. Seth and Hamumu DID get alot of hate. Not the same level as ubisoft hate, but ubisoft get more of it because of their circumstances and past events.

I think that despite all of this, there is still a thriving community. Sure, people losing interest does lower the numbers, but that doesn't mean they won't come back.

This is a game cherished by many after all, despite the glaring flaws it has and the seemingly inexperienced team of developers. Just look at Team Fortress 2 for example. Sure, the game is developed by a small team of dedicated people, but the updates are slow, the balance changes are sometimes odd or not well-received, and flawed/outdated mechanics (random critical hits, the Source engine) are still in the game. And yet people still play it because it's fun. I can say the same for Growtopia, and hopefully some do share my sentiment.

(Though I'd rather play something else, like CrossCode, OSRS or Va11 Hall-A, this game still has a place in my heart. A small but solid place.)
Whoa! I'm back, physically but not in spirit.

I'm pretty sure this is the right sub-forum.

Also, yes gt is addictive, but I'm kinda scared about the mods now.

It's definitely dying. We all know Growtopia is already way past it's peak. I don't want to say who said this to me (incase he doesn't want people to know), but he made a very good point on how newer developers (Seth & Hamumu) are almost always more selfless and want their game to succeed on a social aspect rather than a financial aspect. That meaning they care more about what people want and think, and they listen to their ideas, but what Ubisoft is doing is basically just focusing on getting more $$$ and only listening to people every now and then to try and make it seem like they care.

So from that I think we can learn that Seth & Hamumu's game Growtopia was successful in the first place, because they cared more about the community than money.

I sound like I'm really hating on Ubisoft, but I'm just saying how it is... I don't hate them, but I don't love 'em either.

Probably, there were at least 50k players back then but now I only see 10k-20k

Mostly only those new mods get hate, who decided be active in public. So hate is just downside of publicity and it is not there, because those mods are bad in what they do. All celebrities has haters no matter what they and i don't think that we can change that.

We also need understand that ubiteam really try do their best. They got some amount of employees and they all have 24h per day and they can't work all those 24h. People here think that they doesn't care and they are lazy and whatever, but i think they just have too much work and too little time. Then we add in this mess all who waste all their game time to finding glitches what they could abuse and that makes even more work to team, who already had too little time. Then we complain, cause ubisoft doesn't fix it all..

So there is side where players actually causes more damage than we can even imagine and then we just blame ubisoft. They can't fix stupid kids. Those kids could use all that time to find glitches and then contact mods and help them. But no, they want cause as much damage as they ever can. So can we actually blame ubisoft from everything? I think not.. And yes, beta could be some kind of solution all says, but idk anything about that, because i'm too new player, so i can't say anything about that.

Default Just want to see your views

The 1.0 mods didn't have it anywhere as hard as the 2.0 ones, Honestly I'm an old player so ofc I LOVE the 1.0 mods but so did everyone, Know that we have the 2.0 people are almost trying to compare them to the 1.0 moderators. When I used to play I loved Wicker10 and I realised something, look how many times he had moderators in his videos, I rarely see 2.0 moderators in videos. This doesn't really prove much but it's just the tip of the iceberg. Also I bet many of you guys have great friends that would do alot for you, Imagine having other kids bully you aswell, It's the same with moderators, You may have a ton of friends who would love you but the massive amount of hate would feel worse, I don't wana be a suck up or be annoying, but people are just thanking the 1.0 mods what about 2.0 mods? or game guardians, I'm going of topic, Oh well I'm going to reflect if typing all of this was worth it...

it's dying and there's nothing Ubi can do about it. I see what they tryna do, thats not even kinda new, that's the shyt that Seth has been on. wayyyy past its popularity, Ubi should've bought the game from the start if they wanted to make serious cash.

The 1.0 moderators didn't have a hard time because they didn't do anything to get them hate. There are 2 instances I can think of the top of my head where 2.0 mods caused 'drama' which in turn resulted in hate.

I MEAN WHO GODDAMN GIVES GOLDEN ANGELS TO A FREAKING DICE GAME WINNER!?! If 1.0 mods did the same, I'm sure they would be freaking demoted and banned. You know why? Because it was the era of growtopia not being a dead game.

My opinion at the top wasn't targeting Ubisoft alone, but it was a major part of it.

Ubisoft is a HUGE company. Dont you think that they should be able to maintain a small game of 10-20k players? They uphold many, MANY larger games.

Beta was created for the sole purposes of testing. It would be a MASSIVELY improvement from what they are doing right now. I remember when it was used back in the day for massive updates like the fishing update. Beta is for testing updates in the masses, in real case senarios. What's occurring at Ubisoft is 1 or 2 devs test it ALONE, without real senario based issues. Goddamn it, you won't get anywhere testing stuff with 2 people. You need the public to be involved. There is a major difference with a small team testing an item, opposed to a large cummunity testing it. The bugs can be found BEFORE release. Not after release, causing a rollback.

Yep. 3-4 weeks ago a moderator whose name rhymes with 'bestford' gave golden angels as a prize for winning a dice game.

But that's not the point, the point is that its game breaking and totally inappropriate.

And what i meant was, i think these ubisoft workers, who with we can talk, aren't those who actually decides how much money they can use for this game. So even if our ubimods would want more helping hands, they can't get those, if ubisoft doesn't hire more ppl. So there is chance that all these complains goes to wrong place. All who want complain about servers and other stuff, should maybe contact ubisoft some other place than gt forums and gt support.

In real life work, is super hard make your best if you have tools. So maybe, just maybe, these ubippl here are totally wrong ppl to take all this on them..

And what I meant was, I'm not giving them $hit. I understand their issues. I am targeting at Ubisoft as a whole and the people who make these decisions.

I say kudos to NekoRei. She works her àśś off, from what I know. Heck she even creates cringey YouTube videos all by herself. Probably one of the only role models I have. (Not her societal rank in a game, but as a person in general)

And the topic is: Is the game dying. What do you think QueenChloe?

Yes. Growtopia sucks now, the mods suck, the game is not fun anymore and is now a farming simulator, the most online now is around 32k, when is used to be up to 70k. Ubisoft has made this game absolute trash, the ratings have gone down, they added it to console and it sucked and got 2.2 stars. Yes it is dying.

AH yes, I didn't even mention console. It was released as a money making machine. No dedicated moderators, hence no rule endorsement whatsoever. And then it was left to rot.
