Happened to my brother's iPhone 7 once. There's noway to unlock it unless the owner of the AppleID enters their password AFAIK.

This is why you use Android instead if you want a reliable phone.

    what did your brother do
He wanted to sell the iPhone so he reset it without turning find my phone off, and he forgot the AppleID pass. We took it to Apple and they couldn't do anything, and now it's useless.

    ???
I've had one phone for the past 4-5 or so years and haven't had any problems with it.

Apple literally starts throttling old iPhones the moment they become obsolete (aka when the new iPhone comes out like 6 months later), forcing you to dish out another $1,000 or more.

I've used the same iPhone for almost 3 years already, still works perfectly fine. Switched out the battery one time, but that only cost me 30$.

this is nonsense, as long as you are updated to the latest ios (13/12) then there is no problem. my iphone 5s (6 years now to date) software still works perfectly fine
unlike android which starts to lag after 2-3 years and become useless

stop making a big deal about apple vs android phone is phone

you could try to contact apple support with as many claims as possible to prove that it is your phone (phone transaction details, maybe if you have the packaging send it, personal information (except for the very personal information) stored inside the phone, previously logged in apple ID, etc.), it's your best bet
