What you are asking about are trigonometric functions. You will most likely learn these functions in a trig or pre-calculus class. Here is a picture that helps:

Personally, I am a math person and it's difficult for me to perform written task. I have to write an essay on "healthy food" topic. I was lucky to find a free essay sample on my topic by link https://gradesfixer.com/free-essay-examples/food/ , so I will try to follow the same structure

For someone going into engineering next year, I kinda feel smart lmao but yeah trig is just the introduction to everything. You got a long journey buddy

    copied froma site.
SOH:Sin is used when given the opposite and the hypotenuse [Sinx = Opposite/Hypothenuse]
CAH:Cos is used when given the adjacent and the hypotenuse [CosX=Adjacent/Hypothenuse]
TOA:Tan is used when given the opposite and adjacent [TanX= opposite / Adjacent]

You'll reach this stuff in school but if you're really interested and want to get ahead, google trigonometry.
The people above have given you a brief explanation, but if you're still clueless about these magic buttons on your calculator, it means you still need to understand angles, the Pythagorean theorem, and what the terms 'Opposite' 'Adjacent' 'Hypotenuse' mean, and of course, a lot of other stuff.

    I recommend visiting khanacademy.org .

I just read the thread, and I have concluded that:
Your calculator was probably on radian.

Edit: Yes, it was definitely on Rad. Tested it.

You need to divide by the no. degree since sin, tan, cos. Wait aren't you learning on geometry though

I'm confused as to why you asked here in the first place. It's not that it's forbidden or anything, but do you really expect answers from strangers on a game forum a substitute for math websites and free online courses directed towards trigonometry?
